Context- 

Recently The Union Minister of Tourism and Culture Shri Prahlad Singh Patel recently inaugurated the first online exhibition on the great epic Ramayana.

About the exhibition-

The exhibition has showcased a total of 49 miniature paintings. These paintings have been collected by the National Museum in New Delhi.

Ramayana-

  • Ramayana is one of the major epics of Indian history. 
  • It was composed by Maharishi Valmiki.
  •  It was originally written in Sanskrit. 
  • There are several versions of this great epic such as Jain versions, Buddhist versions, Sikh versions, Cambodia versions, Laos versions, Thailand version, Philippines, Myanmar, and many more.
