Global AI Action Alliance (GAIA)

Context-

Recently the World Economic Forum has launched the Global AI Action Alliance (GAIA).

About GAIA-

It is a multi -stakeholder collaboration platform. This body has been designed to accelerate the adoption of inclusive, transparent and trusted  artificial intelligence tools world wide specifically in industry sectors.

Participants-

  • This alliance is consisting of over 100 leading companies, governments, International Organisations, non profit organisations and academicians. 
  • The all members are committed to maximise Artificial Intelligence’s benefit and to put focus on how it can minimise the societal risks.

Significance-

This alliance is constituted to provide a platform for members to;

  • Engage in the real time learning 
  • Frame new approaches to Artificial Intelligence
  • Increase adoption of best practices of Artificial Intelligence
  • Undertake collective Action to ensure that Artificial Intelligence benefits can be shared to all

Prabuddha Bharata Journal

Context-

125th-anniversary celebrations of the Prabuddha Bharata Journal will be addressed by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The celebration is organised by  the Advaita Ashram in Uttarakhand.

About Prabuddha Ashram-

This is a monthly journal in English of the Ramakrishna order which was founded in 1896 by Swami Vivekananda. The journal was named by Swami Vivekananda to manifest the spirit of India as a nation.

The objective of the journal-

This journal carries Articles on Social Sciences, humanities comprising historical, cultural, historical, Psychological and social sciences themes.

Significance-

  • The journal has been a significant medium for the outreach of the knowledge and message of India’s ancient spiritual wisdom. 
  • Famous Personalities like Bal Ganga dhar Tilak, SC Bose, Sri Aurobindo, Sarvpalli Radhakrishnan etc have contributed to the journal over the years.

  • It is the monastic lineage that was founded by Ramakrishna Paramhansa.
  •  It  made  twin organisations Ramakrishna Math and Ramakrishna Mission.

1. Chauri Chaura Centenary celebrations inaugurated by PM Modi

Through video conferencing on 4 February 2021 marks 100 years of ‘Chauri Chaura incident centenary celebration inaugurated by PM Modi postal stamps also released by PM. The state of government of UP decided to celebrate this event in all 75 districts.

What is the Chauri Chaura incident?

On February 4, 1922 police station at Chauri Chaura in Gorakhpur district of the then United Province (now Uttar Pradesh).The incident claimed the lives of 22 policemen and three freedom fighters.

2. India’s Youngest Female Pilot becomes Ayesha Aziz

The 25 -year-old from Kashmir Ayesha Aziz became the youngest female pilot in the country. It is a source of inspiration and a beacon of empowerment for numerous Kashmiri women.

Ayesha Aziz:

At the age of 15 and underwent training to fly a MIG-29 jet at Russia’s Sokol airbase the following year. She later graduated in aviation from the Bombay Flying Club (BFC) and obtained a commercial license in 2017.

3. Indian Ocean Region Defence Ministers’ Conclave hosted by India

On the sidelines of Aero India 2021, India hosted the Indian Ocean Region (IOR) Defence Ministers’ Conclave. Purpose — To promote an institutional, economic and
a cooperative environment that can foster the development of peace, stability and prosperity in the Indian Ocean region. Theme–‘Enhanced Peace, Security and Cooperation in the Indian Ocean’.
