Context

First ever robotic shadow leather puppet in India was installed at the Palakkad District Heritage Museum in India.

About the Leather Puppet-

• It is also called shadow puppetry, Nizhalkkoothu and Olakkoothu. 
• It is a traditional temple Art of Kerala which is having its genesis in Palakkad and neighbouring regions. 
• It is used to be performed in the Bhadrakali temple of Palakkad, which is telling the tales of hindu mythology specially Ramayana.

Musical Instruments used-

• Accompanying instruments include Ezhupara, Chenda and Maddalam.
• To master this art, the Artists have to do several years of rigorous training.
• The puppetry is performed on a special structure in temple premises called Koothumadam
