CDS (I) 2027: A Strategic Road-Map for Serious Aspirants

Each academy trains officers whose first posting can arrive within months of clearing the final interview, so the stakes are immediate as well as long-term.

Stage-wise skill mapping: where marks are won and lost

The cut-off is volatile because the ratio of vacancies to applicants fluctuates with each cycle; in recent years it has hovered in the 80-100 range for IMA/INA/AFA and 100-120 for OTA, but the exact figure is set out in the official notification. What separates a staller from a qualifier is not raw knowledge but the ability to read questions under time pressure and to eliminate distractors efficiently. A candidate who spends more than 45 seconds on any single MCQ in the GK section will find the mathematics or English sections starved of minutes later in the paper.

The interview—conducted by the Services Selection Board—is the final sieve.
