Context:
Recently The World Meteorological Organisation released the “State of the Global Climate 2020” report.
Key Findings-
- 2011-2020 was recorded as the warmest decade.
- The Cyclone Amphan is recorded as the costliest tropical cyclone in the North Indian Ocean.
- The Cyclone has made landfall in May 2020 near the India-Bangladesh border.
- The economic losses in India due to the cyclone is approximately 14 billion USD.
- In this decade India had one of its two wettest monsoon seasons since 1994.
- The average rainfall between June and September was recorded 9% above the long-term average monsoon of India
