Context-

Recently The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas has released its data for the fiscal year 2020-21. According to the data published by the ministry crude oil production of India has fallen to 30.5 million tonnes. Earlier It was 32.17 million tonnes in 2019-20.

Key Highlights-

  • The production of crude oil  of India has fallen by 5% in 2020-21 as compared to the previous year
  • Oil India Limited has produced 5.4% less oil from earlier
  • The Natural Gas production in the year 2020-21 was at 28.67 billion cubic meters. This was 8% less than the output in 2019-20. 
  • The report pointed out that During 2020-21, the refineries produced 11.2% fewer petroleum products.
