Kalam Program for Intellectual Property and Awareness Concerned Ministry

Context
It was launched on 15th October 2020 on the 89th birth anniversary of former President and scientist Late Dr APJ Abdul Kalam
Objective of the scheme
- The objective of Kapila is to recognise , facilitate and felicitate the intellectual property Innovation and best practices in higher educational institutions
- To develop credit course on IPR features of the scheme
- It proposes to create appropriate awareness regarding the need of IP filling mechanism
- It entails methodology e involved in filing it in India and global Challenges in IPfiling
- students in higher education in India consistently under the guidance of their teacher but they are not aware of the system of filing its patent
- students will be able to get benefits from their inventions by patenting them.

- this implies that young researchers need to know more about IP rules and rights
significance of Scheme
- India to become a 15 trillion US dollar economy by 2024-25 students and scientists have to be more aware of protecting intellectual
- Under this campaign students pursuing education in higher education institutes will get information about the correct system aap application process for patenting their invention
- The program will facilitate the colleges and Institutions to encourage more and more students to file patent and to preserve andsafeguard their inventions
Institution Innovation Council
- It was established by the Ministry of Education in 2018
- It envisions to promote innovation in young students by encouraging, inspiring and nurturing them to work withnew
innovative ideas two periodic activities related to Innovation and entrepreneurship.
