The Ministry of Labour and employment has rejected the recently released Oxfam inequality index 2020
Key points of the index
The index is also called the commitment to reducing inequality index
- It places India at rank 129 out of 158 countries
- At ranks 151 in terms of workers right
- At rank 141 in terms of public services
- At rank 19 in terms of progressive tax
About Index
- It was developed by finance International and Oxfam International together
- The Index measures the extent to which governments are tackling inequality through their policy choices and actions such as-
- to free Public Health care
- Ensure that the rich pay their fair share of tax
